Patrick “Packy” Mader is excited to share his extensive research, interviews, and writing of more than 100 Minnesota Olympians with members of the City of Lakes Rotary Club in Downtown Minneapolis–as the 2021 Summer Olympics unfold.  Patrick will be highlighting some of Minnesota’s most famous Olympic athletes such as hockey stars John Mayasich (Eveleth) and Henry Boucha (Warroad) as well Minneapolis figures like speedskater Gene Sandvig, runner Van Nelson, and pairs figure skater Janet Gerhauser Carpenter.
Observers are often surprised at how representative Minnesota athletes are in various competitions such as gymnastics, swimming, rowing, and curling in additional to traditional strengths in nordic skiing and ice hockey.  Come learn about Minnesota Gold–another one of Minnesota’s great resources!
