Patrick “Packy” Mader is delighted to present to fellow retired teachers (Packy is a retired elementary teacher from the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Public School District) and share the research, interviews, and writing he has completed on Minnesota Olympians.  Several Olympians have connections with education:  Phil Rogosheske of St. Cloud was a health and physical education instructor and competed in kayaking at the Olympics; wrestler Gary Neist of Albert Lea taught in both K-12 systems and higher education at Minnesota State University, Mankato; distance runner Van Nelson taught at Edina schools for nearly 40 years; and alternate Don Timm taught history at Coon Rapids High School.
Many Minneapolis Olympians will also be highlighted including pairs figure skater Janet Gerhauser of Washburn; speedskater Gene Sandvig from Roosevelt; wrestler Alan Rice of University; and Paralympian Jim Mastro from Edison.
Come learn how these remarkable athletes now give back to their school, community, and sport!
