Patrick “Packy” Mader is excited to be invited to Fairmont to present stories of some of Minnesota’s most remarkable athletes in our state’s rich sports heritage.  The program will highlight athletes from south central and southwestern Minnesota who have competed on the world stage as well as some the biggest sports’ names in the North Star State.  He will also share some insights about the women athletes who first competed in Minnesota high school sports following the implementation of Title IX fifty years ago.

The hour long Power Point slide program will explain the personal histories and athletic careers of many notable Minnesota athletes such as hockey stars John Mayasich, Buzz Schneider, and Lee Stecklein; runner Carrie Tollefson of Dawson; Olympic thrower Kris Kuehl of Storden-Jeffers; flag bearer and three-time speedskating medalist Amy Peterson; and athletes from Faribault, Tracy, Windom, and Austin; and reveal the perseverance required to overcome many obstacles they have faced.
