Author and speaker Patrick “Packy” Mader will happily share his books and insights on one of Minnesota’s great resources:  its Olympians to the citizens in the Cities of Brooklyn Center, New Hope and Robbinsdale at Crystal Community Center.  The program is being sponsored by the joint cities’ community education program.

Minnesota’s rich sports heritage includes a large representation in the Olympics and the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis are a prime example.  Robbinsdale’s wrestling legacy; Olympian runner Steve Plasencia’s roots in New Hope/Crystal; and hockey star Krissy Wendell of Brooklyn Center are among the topics and people Packy will highlight.

The 2022 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies will be taking place in Beijing, China, about two weeks after the presentation.  Packy will review his interviews of star cross country skier Jessie Diggins and the Summer Olympic three-time medalist Regan Smith.  And, of course, there are always the hockey players (like former governor Wendy Anderson), speedskaters, and ski jumpers from the region to celebrate!
